Aura Glaser, Ph.D.
Aura Glaser is a dharma teacher, author, and clinical psychologist who integrates spiritual, psychological, and embodiment work. She began practicing Buddhism in India in the late 1970s and for over thirty years has studied Tibetan Buddhism, Vipassana, and inner yoga with the great masters of Asia. Her teachers include S. N. Goenka, Geshe Ngawang Dhargyey, Ribur Rimpoche, and her root teacher Gelek Rimpoche. She is a co-founder of Jewel Heart, an international Tibetan Buddhist organization, where she has been a senior teacher for over twenty years.
Drawing upon over three decades of deep immersion in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, Aura founded Inner Sky to serve as a container for offering the living essence of these teachings in a post-traditional context.
Inner Sky is dedicated to the spiritual unfoldment and natural wakefulness of the unique individual, and to unveiling inner wisdom and love in the midst of everyday experience. When the heart turns deeply and sincerely to truth and love, awakening becomes an immediate and ever-present possibility.
A person of wide-ranging interests, Aura brings breadth, depth, and universality to her teaching. She weaves ancient teachings with contemporary insights in ways that are authentic and accessible. Her approach encourages a direct process of inner contact and inner knowing where each moment is received fully and openly, where our essential goodness is invited to permeate and beautify every aspect of our humanity. She often uses spiritual storytelling as a way to engage the whole person–body, heart, imagination, intuition, and intellect–and illuminate the timeless core of experience.
Central to Aura’s approach is an emphasis on embodied spirituality, on coming home to an embodied presence. This embodied presence is a gateway to full realization. As part of her deep interest in the confluence of embodiment and awakening, Aura trained with Judith Blackstone and is certified to teach Realization Process®.
Aura is the author of “A Call to Compassion: Bringing Buddhist Practices of the Heart into the Soul of Psychology,” and has written for Tricycle and Shambhala Sun magazines. She maintains a private practice, working with people locally and throughout the country. Aura is also the creator and original owner of Crazy Wisdom Bookstore in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Aura received her BA in Women’s Studies from the University of Michigan, her MA in Clinical Psychology from The Center for Humanistic Studies, and her PhD in Clinical/Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute. She is a fully licensed psychologist with over twenty years of clinical experience.
Aura is available for psychotherapy and spiritual guidance sessions, either in-person or by telephone. She also offers consultation for therapists who want to deepen the spiritual dimensions of their practice. She works from Ann Arbor in the Eastern Time Zone.
